In February, 1994, it was upgraded to become the Digital Prominence Monitor (DPM) by replacing a 35mm film camera with a high resolution (1534x1030 pixel) CCD camera. The Polarimeter for Inner Coronal Studies (PICS) instrument replaced the DPM instrument in September, 1997. Together with CHIP Intensity Data, this dataset provides a good view of activity in the upper chromosphere region, particularly prominence and filament activity and eruptions.
